Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between lighting distribution and lighting design?
Lighting distribution focuses on providing the right amount and spread of light for each area, including fixture quantities and spacing. Full lighting design goes further by considering furniture, materials, architectural details, focal points, circulation, beam angles and layers of light to shape how the space feels and functions.
What do I need to start a lighting design?
The best starting point is the latest architectural drawing in DWG format. HVAC drawings and interior/furniture layouts improve coordination. If available, 3D visuals or renders help the team understand the intended style and material direction.
Can House of Light visit my home?
Yes. Home lighting consultation is a live House of Light service. You can request it by calling us or speaking with the team in either showroom. When a site visit is useful, the lighting brief can be taken into the home.
Do you supply and install the lighting?
Yes. House of Light can support product selection and supply, and we maintain dedicated specialist lighting installation capability. Depending on the project, we can stay involved from design through supply, installation and after-sales.
Do you work with contractors, architects and interior designers?
Yes. House of Light supports professional clients with lighting layouts, full lighting design, product selection, technical alternatives, quotations, local supply, installation coordination and project support.
What is a lumen?
A lumen measures how much visible light a source produces. Watts measure power consumption. Two lamps with the same wattage can produce different amounts of light, which is why wattage alone is not enough to judge brightness.
What is CRI?
CRI, or Color Rendering Index, describes how accurately a light source reveals colors compared with a reference light. Higher color quality can make materials, finishes, food, skin tones and products appear more natural and consistent.
What is flicker in LED lighting?
Flicker is variation in light output over time. Some flicker is visible and some may be harder to notice. Product design, driver quality and dimming compatibility can affect flicker, so it is worth considering when selecting lighting for spaces used for long periods.
Why does beam angle matter?
Beam angle describes how narrowly or widely light is distributed. Narrow beams create more focused light and stronger emphasis; wider beams spread light across a broader area. The right angle depends on distance, ceiling height, object size and the effect you want.
Can lighting be adjusted to a budget?
Yes. The team can review product options, lighting layers and alternatives to balance visual intent, performance and budget. The goal is to protect the important parts of the lighting decision rather than simply choose the cheapest fixture.
Do you work on both residential and commercial projects?
Yes. House of Light supports homes as well as offices, retail, hospitality, entertainment and other commercial requirements across Kuwait.
Where are your showrooms?
House of Light has two showrooms in Kuwait: Shuwaikh Industrial at The Block Complex opposite Sun City, and Hawally on Tunis Street at Al-Rihab Complex, Ground Floor.
